Usability Guidelines for Mobiles

Hey yall! I found this article that is really interesting. It is about usability guidelines, but it is for web pages being viewed from mobile devices. It is pretty interesting given the fact that usually people only think about viewing web sites on computers when now we have cell phones, PDAs, and more! This research group based it on cell phones within the UK and created 7 usability guidelines. In their research, they found that 20% of people with cell phones use the internet with them! It is yet another thing to consider when designing a website and I can guarantee that the list is only going to grow longer.
The 7 Usability Guidelines:
1. Meet Users' needs quickly
2. Don't repeat the navigation on every page
3. Clearly distinguish selected items
4. Make user input as simple as possible
5. Only show essential information
6. Place basic browsing controls on the page
7. Design mobile-friendly page layouts
