I love this line from the article Getting Started with Usability. I feel like this is great summary of why usability is important.
"Improving usability costs money but is far cheaper than producing a product that creates havoc in the organization and frustration for users." If you're site can't be used easily, whats the point of having a site at all.

Completely agree! It basically sums it all up in two sentences;especially the second one.
