layers

A nice Flash site demonstrating how Dali created some of his work by using layers back in the 30's (that's a couple years before Photoshop came out).

Choosing the Right Colors for Your Website

I found this article which gives some insight on what colors you should be using for your website. I thought it was a bit different than what we have been reading thus far. I hope you can all get something out of it to use on your own site

GOLD

As we have talked in class about the differences in color in reference to web or print, one color that is one of the most varied among these two is gold. I wikipedia-ed (I am assuming can be used as a pop culture term) gold (color) and there are many variations to this color: satin sheen gold, old gold, pale gold, golden poppy, sunglow, golden yellow, and the list continues. For the web, gold can not be accurately produced because we can not see that shimmer element to the color. So, we use a more yellow gold. Paint is the most actual representation of gold because in earlier times real pieces of gold were mixed in with the paint to give it more reality. Now days, real gold isn't used anymore and is replaced with fine aluminum powder and pigment. This is still the best form because we can still see that shimmer.

Here is the website of the wikipedia site:

More photoshopped models

This site is an interactive version of photoshopped versus unphotoshopped photos.

Once again I think that this is good for the public to see. I think there are too many unrealistic photos out there causing image issues and health problems for both males and females.

It also gives a look at how pictures and advertisements lie!

What Models Really Look Like

I think that the dove beauty campaign is bringing the truth back into what really goes on after the magazine shoots. I feel that this is important for all women to see. We hold ourselves to unrealistsic standards when we compare ourselves to magazines.

Hey Everyone-

So this is what I found after "googling" Typography. I don't think they created the video in Photoshop but it looks really awesome. Check it out it's under 2 minutes.

A blog for the "blog"

Hi all,

I found a cool blog that relates to our class. Here is Infosthetics, it showcases some awesome ways visual aesthetics is applied across the internet with some great video clips as well, if you have time check out the old-school video from Sesame Street, enjoy!

Fun with Fonts

Hi everyone, I am in the midst of losing my mind working on the re-do for the text assignment and decided to take a break.  Is anyone else having a ridiculously hard time with this one?

Anyway, I found a pretty cool site called Fun with Fonts.  I guess people (apparently not me right now!) can so some neat stuff using different fonts.

Enjoy!

Intel Launches New Site

Intel recently launched their beta version of PC.com. "Computer help, news and reviews."
It is an insider's guide to buying and researching new computers. I thought it was interesting because it gives you recommendations for PC's based on what you are looking for and what you are trying to do.

Check out the online lifestyle, it is a little basic, but I think it is good information for the general population since the internet is so new.
